The Company Our client is one of the world’s largest providers of public services to Governments. The services they provide are often of critical importance. They seek a Director of HSE to lead the development of HSE strategy and execute it in line with regulatory requirements and best practice in order to support business growth. The Role: The post holder will lead and develop a team of subject matter experts and provide independent assurance directly to the Division and Justice & Immigration Leadership Team that the safety management system is working effectively. The Director of HSE will work strategically with key internal and external international partners and other stakeholders as appropriate, in influencing and planning joint initiatives and planning new ways of promoting safe and effective practices and enabling compliance to the HSE elements of the company Management Systems and in accordance with our Zero Harm vision. The Director of HSE is responsible for the provision of oversight, counsel and direction to the business MD in the areas of Health, Safety, Environment & Sustainability. To ensure the development, implementation and monitoring of company policies, procedures and standards for QHSSE Management activities in line with regulatory requirements and best practice in order to ensure compliance. Be the ambassador for HSE to the J&I Leadership function, enabling the workforce to understand the link between a robust safety and quality culture and operational excellence. Positively influence contract leadership educating on best practice and embedding behavioural and cultural change across all layers of the business.

Candidate profile: |
The Person: The successful candidate will have recent (proven) managerial, leadership experience working in a senior Health & Safety or Organisational Resilience role, with NEBOSH, IOSH Diploma or Degree qualified, Chartered membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (CMIOSH). Credible, commercial and confident business leader, able to balance corporate involvement in addition to providing direction in managing risk, quality assurance, health & safety, process safety, environmental management and sustainability. Possess gravitas and an energised and engaging style, together with a determined and highly motivated nature. Able to proactively influence a wide range of stakeholders to engage, gain commitment, own and deliver best practice. Detailed understanding of relevant current and impending Safety, Health and Environment legislation and standards. Extensive problem-solving know-how alongside the ability to address issues with a proactive, proportionate and measured approach. Proven interaction with relevant regulatory bodies. Continually maintain an appropriate level of awareness, knowledge, and preparedness across the business to create a culture that prioritizes effective HSE management. Proven track record of successfully designing and supporting the implementation of strategy, frameworks, policies, standards and KPIs, monitoring and working with stakeholders to make improvements. Internal and external auditor qualification and or relevant environmental qualification.
